Like our red lentils “Footballs” also the organic lentils are red, split, peeled mountain lentils. We can offer these smaller lentil halves as Split for a reasonable price. However, the quality of these lenses is unchanged. They also come from organic cultivation in Turkey. The size of these red lentils can even be advantageous: they boil faster, can be processed into lentil flour at low cost or are a suitable ingredient in all those dishes where the creaminess is particularly important. The split absorbs the aroma of spices more easily, with them being created through and through spicy-creamy dishes. The red halves are particularly in demand for the production of pasta from lentil flour. Like all lentils, they are gluten-free, but their red color, unlike gluten-free flour or starch, gives them an appetizing tone. This means that flavor enhancers or colorants are not required for these pasta products. But they score points with their ingredients such as protein, trace elements and vitamins. Lentil flour is a healthy alternative for all those who have to do without gluten-containing foods.

Use

The flour of red lentils is suitable for baking beyond the production of pasta. The use of these pulses in curries and for the preparation of dhal is popular and well-known. The most famous Indian dish of this kind is “Dal (also Daal) Chawal”. The lentil halves are perfect also for the production of Bratlingen. They quickly become soft, bind well and can be seasoned with their rather reserved taste and supplemented with other ingredients such as garlic, leek, onions or parsley. In the meatless kitchen, the red lentils are processed into vegan or vegetarian spreads and pastes. For meat eaters, these spreads are a healthy change that not only taste good on bread, but also as toppings over vegetables, with rice and potatoes or as salad dressings.
