This grading is also sold peeled. Sunflower seeds originally intended for oil pressing are called “bakery”. Their skin is dark brown to black. Bakery sunflower seeds are round and bulbous. Their own taste is less pronounced, but their fat content is high due to breeding for oil pressing. It is on average 50 %. Although the kernels vary in size in bakery quality, they are generally smaller than in confectionary quality. The differences in size are mainly due to the different growing areas. Relatively large sunflower seeds come from Bulgaria, Russia and Ukraine. France supplies a much smaller product, the brownish seeds also come from here. In addition to their high fat content, the organic sunflower seeds, bakery, also contain plenty of valuable minerals. The potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and iron contained in them contribute to the function of metabolism and nerves. It is also rich in vitamin E, which is said to prevent aging. It is considered a scavenger of free radicals, which can damage not only our skin but also the entire organism.

Use

Main application of round sunflower seeds bakery is still the oil pressing. Cold pressing or refining produces a heat-resistant, tasteless, neutral to nutty oil. It is mainly used as edible oil, but is also used in cosmetics. Here it is an inexpensive base oil which is mixed with more expensive oils such as macadamia oil or evening primrose oil. However, these kernels have also earned the addition bakery: with the increasing demand for grain bread, they are becoming more and more popular. They are a popular ingredient in so-called protein breads and sports breads. The softer bite of these sunflower seeds is appreciated in the dough. Our organic sunflower seeds, bakery, are also ideal for the production of spreads. Due to their fat content, they give both sweet and savory spreads a creamy consistency. Their mild taste supports the other ingredients without drowning them out.
